Rooted in nature · connected across generations
G.O.T. Orchards brings teens of all abilities and seniors together to learn, share skills, and build lasting connections. Our educational programs will pair intergenerational mentorship with hands-on learning in gardening, planting, seed care, fruit-tree cultivation, environmental stewardship, nutrition, and healthy eating. Encouragement and leadership are part of every activity: each participant has knowledge to share and room to grow.
Learning resources
Educational resources in development
Our four Together We Grow booklet drafts cover intergenerational mentorship, planting and seeds, orchard care, and nutrition with community service. Activities emphasize positivity, teamwork, and shared decisions between teens of all abilities and seniors. The lessons include accessible indoor and outdoor activities, conversation prompts, and reflection space. These resources are being reviewed and will be shared when ready.
Community support
Growing the orchard together
Fundraising efforts are underway to support an accessible orchard, educational materials, safe participation, and future community programs. Contributions help turn this vision into places and activities where teens and seniors can learn and belong together.
A lesson from the fruit
Why fruits matter
Fruit is part of our mentorship: growing, observing, and sharing it gives teens and seniors something to explore together. Different fruits offer different nutrients that help support healthy tissues and overall well-being as part of varied meals. In our planned pear, apple, and strawberry activity, partners observe each fruit’s shape, texture, and scent. A participant may choose to identify a fruit without looking, then discuss what descriptions helped. Strawberries provide vitamin C, which helps maintain tissues, supports wound healing, and helps the body absorb iron from plant foods. Too little vitamin C over time can harm healing and the gums. Apples and pears offer fiber. Touching, smelling, and tasting are optional, and a facilitator checks allergies and safe food handling.
Looking ahead
Wear the message of connection
In the future, we also hope to offer G.O.T. Orchards apparel bearing messages of connection, growth, and belonging. Apparel is planned; it is not currently available for sale.
